February is Career & Technical Education Month. CTE (Career and Technical Education) is a term applied to schools and educational programs that specialize in the skilled trades, applied sciences, modern technologies, and career preparation. CTE courses provide hands-on real-life learning opportunities for students planning to go to college or enter the workforce after high school.
USD 335 is proud to offer 7 CTE pathways to our high school students and have 12 juniors and seniors already working toward postsecondary certification at Washburn Tech. This month is also a great opportunity to thank our CTE advisory council members who volunteer their time to help improve our CTE programs and recognize our CTE teachers: Mr. Paul Lierz, agriculture; Mr. Dan Shupe, business and Mrs. McKenzie, FACS and agriculture.
