On Tuesday, October 22, the Cobras held their final invitational meet for the 2024 Cross Country season, with both middle school and high school runners competing. Athletes Laramie Self, Sophia Ivy, Devyn Montgomery, Korbin Karns, and Talen Browning all placed in the top 15 for the Varsity teams. Each athlete on the team has shown measurable improvement throughout the season, both during practices and official meets, in areas like speed runs, long runs, and KP (killer-pillar) exercises. “Our team has put in time, sweat, miles, and tears this year,” said senior cross country member Emirson Fritz. “We have grown not just as a team, but as a family. I have high hopes for both Varsity teams to qualify for state this year.”
On October 26, the varsity runners will travel to southeast of Saline to compete at the regional level. Athletes going to regionals include Laramie Self, T.J. Hustead, Devyn Montgomery, Duke Condo, Grant Bales, Owen Bales, Sofia Ivy, Lakota Bottom, Emirson Fritz, Talen Browning, Coralynn Karns, Korbin Karns, Abigail Wellman, and Alexis Deneault. Girls’ races begin at 11:10 am, with boys beginning at 11:45. Admission to regionals is free of charge, so come out and support your Cobra runners!
