Jackson Heights High School has announced the 2024 Homecoming Candidates, as the school prepares for a week filled with activities leading up to Friday’s big game.

JHHS students have nominated their 2024 Homecoming Candidates: Taylor Bosley/Titus Eisenbarth, Kammy Dieckmann/Kade Holliday, Makinley Mulroy/J.W. Moore, and Ava Rash/Max Watkins. Homecoming Royalty will be crowned during half time of Friday night’s varsity football game against Pleasant Ridge, which is set to get underway at 7 p.m.

StuCo has been hard at work, lining up a full schedule of activities to keep the Cobra community fired up throughout Homecoming week, beginning with the kickoff of Spirit week on Monday. All spirit week themes are based on the overall theme for this year’s Homecoming: “At Last We See the Lights.” The day-by-day breakdown of Spirit Week themes can be found on the school website.

Wednesday night, the high school girls take the field for the annual Powder Puff football game, where it will be freshmen/juniors vs. sophomores/seniors. High School Principal Derek Smith will be manning the grill again this year, to feed students prior to the game, which begins at 7 p.m.

Thursday evening, the Car Bash and Bonfire will be held, beginning at 8 p.m. This year, JHHS senior Abigail Wellman has graciously donated her car for the bash. All proceeds from the Car Bash will go to the Mann family.

On Friday afternoon, middle school sports will be celebrated in a pep rally during 7th hour, to be followed immediately by the Homecoming per rally. The week’s events all lead up to the big event, as the Cobras go head-to-head with Pleasant ridge Friday night, and the Cobra King and Queen are crowned. Following the game, spectators will be treated to a Pyro Party fireworks display, donated by Derek Plowman. After the show, students will bring Homecoming week to a close as they dance the night away in the school gym.

Be sure to have your Cobra Pride on display all week. This is sure to be a Homecoming you won’t want to miss!
